Adventure
This project is my introduction to level design and into blockmesh. The task was to create a beginning, middle, and end each with their own three distinct areas. The level consists of a fossilized cave containing remnants of a lost civilization, a rock and forest gully with deathly still-water, and and underground forest.
Mood Boards
This level creation began with mood boards. The goal was to identify the feel of each space, how they flowed together, and where key concepts like landmarks were located.
First Blockmesh
This is the first rendition of the blockmesh for Adventure. At this time, It is a linear route with no interactable. Valves, gates, and collectables have not yet been added.

This level begins in a cave, fossils are left as breadcrumbs though there are two paths shown to the player. The first continues with the breadcrumbs and is the correct path to leave to the second area, the first shows the exit but it is not accessible from that position. Players will navigate the cave and practice their jumps, exiting through a house carved of stone into the focal point area.
The second area consists of a forest/mountains, and a clear path for players to follow. They are lead to a lake with dark water and must navigate logs and rocks to safely reach the other side. At the end of the path is an exit that has been blocked off due to a rockfall, but visible enough to confirm the correct direction. To the left of the entrance they will climb the rocks in order to reach the temple at the end of the second level.
The third level opens at a downward view of a massive hole in the earth, surrounded by the continued forest and mountains. When players approach they find that they must safely navigate their way to the bottom. After reaching the underground forest players are in the last part of the level, climbing/jumping along the rock wall without falling into the lava below. Final step: reaching the safety of the house, built on a rock away from danger.
Second Blockmesh
This is the second rendition of the blockmesh for Adventure. At this time, a valve and a gate have been added to afford more interaction and player agency. Breadcrumbs like fossils in cave 1 were also added.

VALVE- 26-45 seconds
This offshoots from the middle of the first level in the cave system, wrapping up and back over to prevent any missing gaps. This valve is not necessary to complete the level, but would be a good place to put loot or experiences.
GATE- 1:55
The gate slides down and grants access into the temple ruins, giving more place to the player to explore. Without going through this gate players cannot complete the level or reach level 3.
Final Project
The final touches to the project include replacing blockmesh, changing placement of the stairs in the final cabin, opening the beginning and end of the level so that it may be connected to others, changing player start location, and adding breadcrumbs like torches, and adding interactable items like chests, coin, ropes, and torches.
Blockmesh to Assets
Below are the results for replacing all of the blockmesh in the level with proper static meshes. This was a kit I was given to use and do not own any of these assets.
